13 Things To Remember When Moving :Edition 5

Thirteen Things about Aline de Chevigny

1- Get Boxes. (This isn't as easy as it once was. Everyone crushed them immediately now and to ask them to save a few is blasfemy)
2- Change your address with the post office. (Have you seen how expensive it is now?)
3- Find a new apartment. ( LOL yeah it should be #1 but in a small town it's not so easy.)
4- Pack boxes. (Ever try to pack over 2000 books and not have the boxes get too heavy?)
5- Switch the Phone and internet to new address (When job hunting the most important 2 things are your phone and your internet service. LOL which means keeping the same number)
6- Change your address with the government. (Yes this is a priority)
7- Change addres with your publishers. (how else will I get all thatmoney I made in Royalties. )
8- Carefully pack the home office (Hehehe again not as easy as it sounds. I do all my own promo goodies.)
9- Find a few friends or a few hundred bucks to move the stuff to the new place. (Friends are cheaper but less easily found LOL)
10- Don't loose the box list. ( My mother packed mine the last time. Took me months to find half my important documents)
11- Store boxes in a safe dry area while waiting to be unpacked. (LOL during the snow melt/flooding season this is highly important)
12- Pick a day that isn't calling for a blizzard. (YOulaugh but the last 3 times I've moved we've had a sudden blizzard move in. Could see a foot in front of our faces)
13- Don't forget the wine or beer and pizza makes the helper that much more willing to lend a hand.

*hugs*
It'll all work out.
You have to pay to change your address at the post office?

I'm having box-finding problems myself. Trying to ship all my promo junk to RT ahead of time. Grrr.

And about my T13 for today - don't fret - I've got more of these planned. One especially for TV SF&F guys like RDA, Steve Bacic, Sorbo, etc... This first post is just a smattering, not my TOP 13 of all time or anything close! LOL

*hugs* my best tool for moving is ear phones so I don't have to hear my dad complain that I have too many boxes of books to move.

I much preffer unpacking to packing Ingrid.

Yeah Michelle, if I want them to forward my mail for a few months.

LOL Bianca the relief I have hearing that.

I couldn't agree more Raggedy.

LOL Jennie I'll have to remember that.

Oh, Aline! I wish I could come help; I'm nutty enough that I LOVE to pack and unpack. Seriously!

We always get boxes from the liquor store; they're the perfect size (especially for books), but I doubt you have a liquor store near you. Then again, you might...

Hang in there and good luck! Thanks for visiting West of Mars; I hope you'll come back.

LOL Susan, thanks for the offer.

I know it doesn't help but I've a gargeful of boxes broken down and not broken down. Sounds like you've got it all worked out to a fine science thought.

Susan HG is right - liquor store boxes are the way to go. They can handle the weight, especially of books.
