Blurb
On the run from the Lycan who turned him during the full moon on All Hallows Eve, Christian Clarke isn't happy when he finds Joanna wandering through the woods searching for him. His inner wolf refuses to leave her side, yet his inner man wishes to keep her at arm’s length for fear that he won't be able to control his inner demons.
Hearing her whispered profession of love, he reveals himself. Can he keep her safe from the pack that hunts him? Will Joanna love the beast he's become?
Excerpt:
The front door slammed, followed by sharp steps towards her room, and pausing just on the threshold. Her heart started beating painfully in her chest, wondering what would happen next.
“I promise I won’t hurt you, but you have to stay in there for a little longer. The forest is dangerous right now and I can’t let you get hurt.”
“Please, I promise not to tell anyone about any of this. I just want to go home…my boyfriend will start to worry if I don’t return soon.” Another blatant lie, she’d been doing a lot of that since Christian disappeared.
“This boyfriend, he has a name?”
The thick tone of jealousy she heard in the man’s voice surprised her. She’d never expected a reaction to her plea other than a rejection. “His name?”
“Yes, his name.”
“Christian… his name is Christian Clarke.” Silence greeted her lie. Christian had never been her boyfriend, but he was the only person she could think of and it didn’t hurt that she wished he had been.
“Christian Clarke? Isn’t he the Forester that went missing a year ago from this very same forest?”
Fresh tears ran down her cheeks at the blatant reminder. Could this man be the same one that took her Christian away? “Yes…”
“Get some sleep, I’ll bring you some food in the morning.”
“Wait, please… what happened to him? You know the truth, I can hear it in your voice.” She waited for at least an hour by the door, waiting for him to come back and answer her question but he never did. His voice though muffled sounded so familiar and soothing, leaving her feeling lost and confused about what was happening.
